Friends

Imam Ali said (translated from Arabic):

"Unfortunate is he who cannot gain a few sincere friends during his life and more unfortunate is the one who has gained them and then lost them (through his deeds)"

"A friend cannot be considered a friend unless he is tested on three occasions: in time of need, behind your back and after your death."

"If a friend envies you, then he is not a true friend."

Who would you consider true friends? Our old or new friends?

I believe...

Old friends always have a special place in one’s heart. They have proved their loyalty and honesty over a long period of time. They are so considerate and respectful that is why friendship has lasted years and years. They share special memories from childhood. It is always easy to engage with them in a comfortable conversation. They are not always agreeable but they listen and understand. To them, equality is the base of the relationship regardless of ethnicity or social class.

George Herbert, a Welsh poet ( 1593 – 1633), once said "The best mirror is an old friend."

This is why old friends are very special.

However, some people have the magic to get to that very special place in the heart in no time. And they must be considered true friends as well.
